Federally Supported Development
EASI was built by speech-language pathologists, for speech-language pathologists. Co-founder and CTO Matthew Guggemos, who also teaches speech science at California State University, East Bay, designed the system architecture around the same clinical and theoretical principles he teaches in the classroom. Co-founder Lois Brady, a recognized expert in augmentative communication and autism, provided the subject matter expertise, clinical testing, and concept development that shaped the product. Federal research support—including NSF SBIR Phase II Award #2133148—helped fund development and study. Funding is not a substitute for clinical validation, security review, or clinician judgment.
